Updates
09/03/2013 - Added screenshot command for PS3.

Q: What is the difference between a Free Company and a Linkshell?
A: A linkshell is simply a chat channel while a Free Company is a fully featured guild system.

Q: What is a Grand Company?
A: Grand Companies are like factions. These are the alliances formed by each city-state to combat the Garlean empire. Joining a Grand Company is like pledging your allegiance to that specific city-state. You do Grand Company tasks for seals which allows you to purchase rewards. Each Grand Company has the same type of rewards but the gear has different stats and aesthetics.

Q: What are the differences between the 3 Grand Companies?
A: Each Grand Company has a slightly differently storyline, featuring a different cast of NPCs. The major characters being the leaders of each Grand Company and each city-state. The gear is different based on both aesthetics and parameters but the same type of gear is offered in each Grand Company. Some companies such as The Order of the Twin Adder may offer gear focused more on magic parameters.

Q: Can I change Grand Companies?
A: You can change Grand Companies at any time, but your progress is separate within each Grand Company. You will start over in seals and rank when you switch companies but it saves your progress with each company. You can only equip the gear for the company you are affiliated with.

Q: How do you take a screenshot on PC?
A: PRINT SCREEN is the default command to take a screenshot. You can hide your UI by using the SCROLL LOCK key.

Q: Where are screenshots located on my PC?
A: My Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\screenshots

Q: How do you take a screenshot on PS3?
A: L1 + START is the command to take a screenshot. You can hide the UI by using L1 + SELECT.

Q: Will there be guild or player housing?
A: Yes. There will be both Free Company and individual player housing. Free Company housing will be available in the first patch after launch. You can furnish your Free Company through crafted goods and battle trophies, with some adding a bonus to your Free Company members. In future updates, player housing will be introduced and will later have features added like gardening and Chocobo breeding. In addition, you will be able to setup retainers and housing access (who can visit your house).

Q: Are server transfers allowed?
A: Details regarding limited server transfers will be announced roughly 2-3 weeks after launch for players on new servers that want to transfer to another new server or Legacy server. Legacy players will NOT be allowed to transfer to new servers at this time. The director, Naoki Yoshida has stated that if they consider allowing this, it would not happen until at least 6 months after launch.

Q: I'm running out of inventory space! How do I get more storage?
A: Near the end of the level 20 main scenario quest, after visiting the Waking Sands, you will unlock access to a Retainer. Retainers can hold up to 170 items and players are allowed to have a maximum of 2 Retainers each for combined storage of 320 items. Retainers are also used to sell you items on the Market (up to 20 at a time) and will eventually be able to perform other tasks while you are away such as gathering.

In addition to Retainers, each Inn Room gives players access to an Armoire which can be used to store unique items and event items. The Onion Helm and Moogle Cap would be an example of such an item. Items can only be stored here if fully repaired.

Q: How do I level my second character if quests are not repeatable?
A: You will receive a 50% experience bonus for leveling any additional characters which is up active on that additional character at all times. The primary leveling methods will be through Hunting Logs, FATE, Dungeons, Guildhest, and Leves. The most efficient method of leveling additional characters is via Hunting Logs, FATE, and Dungeons. Leveling in a party is extremely fast and efficient versus leveling solo.

Q: What is a Guildhest?
A: Guildhests are unlocked around level 15 and can be found on Battle Wardens located at various camps. To join a Guildhest, you have to have a full party of four players. Guildhests are instanced challenges with small and linear areas that have clearly defined objectives. You get a massive amount of experience points for completing a Guildhest the first time but subsequent attempts result in a much lower amount of experience points. Because of this, it is recommend to save them for leveling you second character. As you complete Guildhests and level up, you will unlock access to more.

Q: Are bonus attribute points different for each class?
A: Bonus attribute points are specific to each class. Your bonus points can be applied differently to each class.

Work in progress…
